Giving Tuesday is the world’s largest generosity movement, a day when Canadians are encouraged to give back to the charities and non-profit organizations that matter to them most.
What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 to inspire people to perform acts of kindness and support their communities. Since then, Giving Tuesday has grown globally with active movements in more than 80 countries, engaging millions of people. The first Giving Tuesday movement arrived in Canada in 2013, to specifically drive fund-raising efforts for local, home-grown organizations.
When is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday falls on December 2, 2025, as a counterbalance to Black Friday and Cyber Monday spending sprees! It’s the day that Canadians donate to their favourite non-profit organizations and charities.
How can I support?
Are you looking for a charity to donate to for Giving Tuesday? You can help children and youth who have experienced Canada’s child welfare system by donating to Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada today.
What is Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada?
The Foundation is Canada’s leading charity dedicated to supporting children and families who have experienced the child welfare system. Together with our community of donors, child-protection agencies, community organizations and lived experts, we remove barriers that limit the potential of children and youth, providing access to resources that enable them to thrive.
Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada and Giving Tuesday
Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada aims to raise as much as possible on Giving Tuesday to support children and youth. You can make your donation count TWICE as much this year. Thanks to our generous donor the Dottori-Attanasio Family, your donation will be matched up to $100,000. Your donation will help support programs in our four key areas:
- Strong Families and Lifelong Connections: Children and youth should have a caring adult in their corner—a mentor, caregiver, or ally—a steady presence that provides stability, allowing them to thrive. Our programs, including Safe at Home, empower families and guardians to help young people thrive and ensure children and youth have safe people and places in their lives.
- Mental Health and Well-Being: Youth benefit from timely, accessible, and appropriate mental health care and opportunities to build well-being. Our programs, such as the Youth Mental Health Fund, offer innovative solutions that ensure young people can benefit from timely, accessible and appropriate mental healthcare.
- Education: Children and youth must have the right supports – tutoring, equipment, and access to enrichment activities – so they can stay on track and succeed. By removing barriers, we’re advancing equitable access to education by ensuring more young people from care can engage in learning, graduate high school and pursue post-secondary dreams through resources like our Post-Secondary Education Program.
- Employment: Young people should be equipped with life and job skills to build successful, meaningful careers. Our programs, including Youth Works, equip young people with the critical skills, resources and networks they need.
This year anything you donate will mean double as much!
