How the Dottori-Attanasio Family is inspiring Canadians to give this holiday season

This holiday season, Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada (CAFC) is inviting Canadians to reflect on the moment they knew that they wanted to help create brighter futures for young people who have experienced the child welfare system.

For long-time supporter Laura Dottori-Attanasio and the Dottori-Attanasio Family, that moment has come full circle through a powerful gesture of generosity: a match gift of up to $100,000, doubling every donation made until December 31, 2025.

“Not everyone begins life with the same advantages, and at some point, all of us need a bit of help,” says Laura. “That belief is at the heart of my support for Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada. By matching donations this holiday season, I’m inviting Canadians to join me in doubling the impact of their generosity.”

A lifelong commitment to giving back

Laura Dottori-AttanasioLaura’s belief in giving back runs deep. Raised in a small town by parents who emphasized empathy and responsibility, she learned early on the importance of looking out for one another and volunteering your time and energy.

“Earlier in my career, I looked for meaningful ways to get involved and quickly gravitated to efforts that lift up children and youth in vulnerable situations,” she explains. “I’ve also seen how inclusive, nurturing environments can change trajectories. When we create spaces where every young person feels they belong, we unlock potential.

Through her leadership as CAFC’s Teddy Bear Affair Gala Honourary Co-Chair in 2022, as well as the Co-Chair of CAFC’s Futures Transformed Campaign Cabinet, Laura has helped advance the Foundation’s mission to ensure that every young person has the chance to thrive.

Doubling impact

The Dottori-Attanasio Family’s holiday match offers Canadians an immediate way to make a tangible difference. Until December 31, 2025 every dollar donated will be matched up to $100,000, doubling the impact of gifts that provide education funding, mental health supports, job training, and resources that help families thrive.

“This collaboration is also about community,” says Laura. “When donors see their gift go twice as far, they feel part of something bigger — a collective commitment to help young people from the child welfare community thrive.

Building a legacy of opportunity

Philanthropy, for the Dottori-Attanasio Family, is about putting values into action. Through their family foundation, they focus on initiatives that expand opportunity.

“Being self-reflective matters,” Laura shares. “What is our lived experience? How does it differ from others’? How can we use our voice and platform to meet people where they are? When we level the playing field, we invest in our shared future.”

The Dottori-Attanasio Family focuses on initiatives that expand opportunities, whether that’s inclusive programs that help children and youth thrive or scholarships that open the door to post-secondary education.

“We’ll continue to champion efforts that create a more equitable, inclusive future for all children and youth, because when one child succeeds, our whole community is stronger,” adds Laura.

Join the moment

Every young person supported by Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada has a moment when they knew their future could change — a chance to pursue school, find belonging, follow a passion, or step into independence with confidence.

The Foundation’s “The Moment I Knew” campaign shares the inspiring stories of youth from care — Vivian, Brittany, Kardell, and Michelle — who each share a moment that shaped their path forward.

Your donation this holiday season will help create more of those moments — and, thanks to the Dottori-Attanasio Family, it will go twice as far. Donate now to double your impact!
