We’re thrilled to be Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada’s Monthly Match Partner, because we know the impact monthly donors make. Monthly donations aren’t just a contribution; it’s an investment in the futures of children, youth, and families involved in the Canadian child welfare system. When you give, you’re helping the Foundation provide stability and opportunities, ensuring children, youth, and families have the resources they need to build a brighter future. Become a monthly donor, and together, we’ll make a difference. – The KARE Foundation

Why are monthly gifts urgently needed? You can help break the cycle.

In August 2023, the federal government labelled gender-based violence an “epidemic.” Intimate partner violence (IPV) leaves deep and lasting scars on kids, especially those under the age of four. With an estimated 300,000 children at risk of abuse and neglect in Canada, exposure to IPV is one of the leading causes of child welfare investigations.

To address this devastating trend, the Foundation funds Safe at Home, a program that supports families and kids experiencing domestic violence, providing them with the skills and resources to heal and stay together.

The Safe at Home program partners with local agencies and community-based organizations to deliver two programs: Mothers in Mind and Caring Dads. These programs can also be adapted and customized to address the unique needs of Indigenous communities.

  • Mothers in Mind: We know that early intervention is so important to help make kids feel safe again. That’s why Mothers in Mind was created! It fills a critical gap for those under four living in homes affected by violence. The 12-week program supports mothers and their children but what makes it stand out is how it recognizes the impact that violence can have on a mother’s ability to respond to her child’s needs.
  • Caring Dads: Involving dads in the solution is critical to preventing domestic violence. The Caring Dads program gets fathers involved in group sessions that are all about building trust and helping dads understand the root cause of their behaviour, and promoting child-centred parenting. Plus, they work on developing non-abusive ways to interact with their parenting partners.

By supporting Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada with a small monthly gift, you’ll help fund critical programs that create safe spaces for families and kids in need. By working together, we can make a lasting difference and monthly members are so important because people power is what helps our families thrive.
