Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada’s Ted and Loretta Rogers Foster Care Comfort Kit Program aims to improve the experience of Canadian children coming into the care of the child welfare system by providing them with a backpack that aids in bettering their well-being, safety, and sense of security. For many of our children, being removed from their homes is traumatic and disorienting. Depending on the nature of the situation at the time, many of our children may have to leave with nothing but the clothes on their backs or very few possessions which are often packed in garbage bags.
The Ted and Loretta Rogers Foster Care Comfort Kit Program provides high-quality backpacks (“comfort kits”) filled with age appropriate items and supplies to these children and youth as they face one of the most overwhelming experiences of their lives.
Every year, the program reaches 5,000 children across Canada through our 30 agency partners in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon.

Getting my backpack helped me feel better when I was really scared. It had my teddy and some of my things in it.
