In collaboration with the Prosper Canada Centre for Financial Literacy, Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada offers an online financial literacy training program for young people transitioning out of the child welfare system. The training program is designed to help you successfully manage your money and debts and begin building assets.
Benefits of accessing our financial literacy training program
Our financial literacy training program is available in an online format and can be completed at your convenience.
Completing the program will help you successfully manage your money, learn how to budget effectively, and empower you to save money and begin building assets.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the financial literacy training program, you must be:
- Under the age of 30.
- A current or former Crown (permanent) Ward with a Canadian child welfare agency, or eligible for Continued Care and Support for Youth.
- Motivated to gain the skills, tools, and knowledge required to better manage your money.
Course structure
The financial literacy training program consists of six modules covering the following topics:
- Budgeting
- Banking and Financial Services
- Saving
- Credit Basics
- Debt
- Debt Repayment and Creditors
Learners will take a short quiz at the end of each module and a summary quiz at the end of the course to encourage full participation.
You will have three months from the time of registration to complete the course (extensions may be given in exceptional circumstances). When you finish the course, you will receive an electronic certificate of completion.
Registering for the program
- To register for the training program, you must pre-register with Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada using our online application portal.
- Once pre-registration has been completed, you will be contacted via email with steps on how to register and begin the online training.
